Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world, which begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries as God through the Holy Spirit has gifted them.

Music Ministry

The purpose of the music ministry of Second Baptist Church is to create an environment that inspires corporate and individual worship. We strive to encourage believers in their daily walk with Christ, to enable individuals to share their gifts as parts of the worship experience, and to equip the lost with a saving knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We do this by sharing the Gospel message through a variety of media, including song, spoken words, and instrumental music. The music ministry encourages worship through a variety of music styles including traditional hymns, Southern Gospel, Contemporary, Praise and Worship.

Mission Outreach

Second Baptist is thrilled to be part of the building of God’s kingdom around the world. We actively participate in sending and supporting missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We encourage all our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they live and minister in our own community or move to a foreign country to serve others in ministry.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege. In an age of widespread technology, we are gearing up to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We’re in the process of uploading our weekly sermons to our website in video format. We are also striving to maintain a Facebook page for additional church communication.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. In every Sunday service we observe dedicated times of prayer. Throughout the week, our voluntary Prayer Warriors pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study.

Discipleship

A disciple is a learner, someone who comes to be taught. At Second Baptist we are taking intentional steps to reach people where they are and to help them progress from unbeliever to disciple to mature disciple maker. Discipleship is learning to model, practice and multiply principles we find in the Bible. In January of 2017, we began “The Journey,” a one-year intentional plan of discipleship that meets during our weekly Sunday School. You are welcome to join us anytime!
